Bone Density Scan

Bone Density Scan

Evaluates bone mineralization of demineralization to detect different stages of osteoporosis.

The patient should have no calcium 24 hours prior to exam.

Medicare will only pay for a DEXA every 2 years with medical necessity.

Patients must wait seven days after a radionuclide bone scan, barium study, or abdomen/pelvic CT scan.
