Carolina Clay Matters Ceramics Exhibit

On Friday, January 6 from 6:00pm to 8:00pm, the Gallery will host an Opening Reception for Clay Matters, a ceramics art exhibit featuring unique works by over 25 North and South Carolina potters. The exhibit will be on display from January 6 through February 11, 2006.

Carolina Clay Matters was founded over 15 years ago in Charlotte by Leslie Betz Malone, potter and instructor at the University of North Carolina at Charlotte. The group has grown over the years to now include approximately 100 members. The Guild hosts bi-annual pottery shows in May and October and exhibits collectively throughout the year. The Guild meets monthly to collaborate and share ideas and information. They also sponsor workshops on a variety of relative topics with instructors from across the country.

Participating potters will be exhibiting a variety of works including hand built works, wheel thrown utility ware, decorative Raku pieces, tiles, sculpture and wall pieces. Participating potters include Laraine Middleton, Leon Nichols, Sarah Coppola, Kim Lewis, Joyce Branch, Patti Bryan, Sylvia Coppola, Jim Dalton, Linda Dalton, Corine Dedmon, Hal Dedmon, Dale Duncan, Babs Goodall, Greg Goodall, Bob Hasselle, Byron Knight, Georgia Knight, Gary Lee, Bary Lockman, Lambeth Marshall, Richard Marshall, Jennifer Mecca, Alex Miller, Cindi Powell, Gary Rubin, Amy Sanders and Hat Thompson.

This exhibit is sponsored in part by Wilkes Regional Medical Center. The Gallery is very appreciative of their generous support of our organization and mission to provide quality educational experiences through exhibits, classes, workshops and field trips for all ages. WAG promotes art as a necessary and enriching component of a well-rounded life.
