Barbara Walsh, an employee of WRMC Laboratory since 1998 graduated from Western Piedmont Community College in Morganton on May 11, 2005 as a Laboratory Professional. Barbara started as a phlebotomist at WRMC and was promoted to Laboratory Assistant. She trained as a Medical Laboratory Technologist at Piedmont Community College where she made the deans list. Barbara did her clinical intern at Wilkes Regional Medical Center while employed here. She graduated with high honors receiving an Associate Degree and recognition for National Academic Excellence. There is a national shortage of Medical technologist and we are delighted to have one of our own, trained and working second shift as a laboratory professional.
Patients depend on the knowledge and skills of many different medical professionals all working together to provide quality medical care. With all the innovations in medicine over the past 30 years, it really does take a team- the best medical team that can be assembled to manage a patient’s care. Laboratory professionals, while one of many on that team, are among the most critical. Patients’ health does, indeed, depend on laboratory professionals.
