Eight Year Accreditation Awarded to WRMC Radiology School
The Radiology School sponsored by Wilkes Regional Medical Center received notification this week from The Joint Review Committee on Education in Radiologic Technology (JRCERT), the premier radiology accrediting body, that they have been awarded the maximum 8-year accreditation. The site visit for the Program took place in May, 2007. The JRCERT site visitors report at the end of the site visit was extremely positive stating that the staff appeared to have positive and supportive rapport with students.
The hospital administration has been very supportive of the Radiologic Technology Program. There are currently 16 students enrolled in the program. The school facility relocated from the old nurse's dorm in September 2006, to the new Support Center. The facility provides updated offices, large classrooms, a practice-positioning room, additional parking, lockers and mailboxes for the students. In addition, the school has an 11- station computer lab with internet access. The WRMC Hospital Auxiliary decorated the school lobby and also presented the school with an up-to- date $8,500.00 media center and scaled 3-D anatomic model for teaching purposes. Last year, Ms. Faye Wainright, A.A., R.T.(R), joined the staff as a part-time clinical instructor.
The staff would like to say "Thank You" to the entire hospital staff for its support of the school. The 51st class is scheduled to graduate June 27th, 2008 .
