NEW YEAR’S BABY - The first of arrival of 2011 at Wilkes Regional Medical Center's New Beginnings Birthing Center was Braxton Curtiss Brown, who was born at 1:24 a.m. Saturday, Jan. 1, to Brian and Courtney Brown of Purlear. Braxton, who was due to arrive on Jan. 2, weighed 7 pounds, 9 ounces and was 21 inches long. With Braxton and his parents are his sister, Staci, left, age 13, and Dr. Ben Horton, right, who delivered Braxton. The newborn is the grandson of Steve and Nan Crysel of Graham, and Chip and Sandy Wicker of Boone, and his maternal great-grandmother is Willa Crysel of Moravian Falls.
